Amprex Racing Hosts Second Edition of RMCAF This Weekend in Sepang

SEPANG, 25 January – Top karters from the region gather at Sepang International Karting Circuit this weekend to challenge for top honours at the Rotax MAX Challenge Asia Festival 2024 (RMCAF) for a place in the RMC Grand Finals in Sarno, Italy in October later this year and a shot for a cool RM400,000 cash pool prize.

“We are happy to announce that a total of 161 registered drivers from 18 countries would be taking part in this event, which is the second edition of the RMCAF. There are some of the top karters from around the world who have registered for this event; competing in five Rotax categories – Micro MAX, Mini MAX, Junior MAX, Senior MAX and DD2 Masters.

“This is the biggest karting event in South East Asia till date. Before this, the biggest karting event was the inaugural Rotax Max Challenge Asia Festival 2022, which was held in Langkawi and had 132 drivers,” said chief organizer, Genji Hashimoto, who is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Amprex Racing Services.

He said of the 161 participants, 34 will be competing in the Junior class, 55 in the senior class; 17 in the DD2M class, 20 in the Micro class, 24 In the Mini class and 12 in the Masters class. All class champions apart from Senior Masters will get an automatic seat in the Grand Finals. Drivers from all over the world will come to compete in Grand Finals.

“For the race this weekend, some of the top contenders include Japan’s Iida Itto, who is now competing in the Mini class. He is the RMCAF 2022 Micro Max champion. He is managed by former F1 and Indycar driver, Toranosuke Takagi. From Japan, we will also have Quinten Lu, who is RMC Japan’s 2023 junior champion and Kenta Kumagai, who is RMC Japan 2023 Senior champion

“Another top driver will be Britain’s Mark Kimber, who is a multiple time Rotax winner. He was the 2016 Junior MAX, 2021 Senior MAX champion and DD2 MAX RMCGF 2022 Champion; making history by winning in three different engine classes.

“From Malaysia, we will have Katrina Ee, who was the Junior Max Champion RMC Asia Trophy 2023 as well the experience Travis Teoh competing in the Junior Max category,” said Hashimoto, adding that Amprex Racing Services is proud to be the proud promoter and organiser of the RMCAF which it aspires to develop this event into most prestigious annual international karting event in the South East Asia region.

Apart from the Festival, Amprex Racing Services also organizes the Rotax Max Challenge Asia Trophy (RMCAT), which is an Asia Zone pro karting race series that has a number of rounds; where the season champions of the respective classes will get a ticket to the Rotax Grand Finals.

The Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals is the most prestigious international event in the world of kart sporting where the best kart racers that emerged victorious from RMC championships and events compete in their respective categories.
